STA Travel is a worldwide company providing travelling arrangements and information to young people and students. They have offices in every country around the world thus employing a large amount of staff. The HR Manager, Sallyann Hillier wanted to centralise information and implement a common employee database that everyone would be able to access to improve communication in the company and reduce administrative time for the HR department.
The company employs 620 staff in 60 offices in the UK. With this number of employees and branches Sallyann Hillier founded difficult to cope with the level of information shared among departments since “there wasn’t any system in place and information was spread out everywhere thus making it difficult to process any enquiries and keep everyone up to date”.
They required, therefore, a system that would allow them to share information, exchange news on legislation and policies that not only affect internal staff but even STA Travel users. Sallyann says “Employee Self Service from Vizual has helped us improve on internal communication, since information is shared and stored centrally.” She continues, “What I find most useful in the system is that it is much easier now to create screens to reflect our business stages and being able to monitor when coaching sessions have been conducted. Since we are in the Leisure industry we provide ‘travel’ benefits to our own employees. Running reports to show where people have travelled to is essential for the HR department”
